Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions families ask most often about our services, how we work and how to get started. If you cannot find what you are looking for, we are always happy to talk.

Getting started

The essentials about Bridge to Portugal and how the first step works.

International families moving to, or already living in, Portugal: parents choosing a school, families adapting to new routines and institutions, and anyone who wants real cultural clarity, not just the language.

Both. Sessions take place online or in person, and families can start before they arrive in Portugal.

It depends on the programme and on what your family needs. After a free 15-minute call, you receive a personalised proposal.

Choosing a school in Portugal

Questions about Educational Consulting: the Portuguese education system, school choice and our packages.

Bridge to Portugal supports international families choosing a school in Portugal: families relocating, expatriate families already here, and parents of children from preschool to secondary. It is for any family who wants to understand the system before deciding, not after.

We are fully independent. Bridge to Portugal does not receive commissions from schools, so our recommendations are based only on your child’s needs, your family’s values and the right cultural fit, never on who pays us.

That depends on your child, your timeline and your family’s plans, and it is exactly what we help you work out. We explain how each pathway really works, academically, culturally and socially, so you can decide with clarity rather than guesswork.

Essential (197€) is your first full consultation session, ideal for families still abroad or at an early stage. Guided (397€, the most chosen) adds a personalised school shortlist and support with school communication. Premium (797€) adds follow-up and integration support, for complex transitions or expatriate assignments.

It is a free 15-minute diagnostic conversation to understand your child’s profile, clarify your main questions and recommend the right package. It is not a consultation, it is a brief triage, so you receive the right level of support.

Both. The orientation call and the consultation sessions can be delivered online or in person, depending on where you are and what suits your family.

Sessions for international families are in English. Inês has lived in Italy and China, so she understands from the inside what adapting to a new school and culture feels like.

Not at all, and earlier is often better. Many families start while still abroad, so they arrive with a clear plan and avoid a misaligned school choice. The free call helps you decide the right moment.

Cultural Onboarding 1:1

Questions about Cultural Onboarding: understanding how Portugal works, before you arrive or once you are here.

Bridge to Portugal supports international families settling into life in Portugal, parents navigating Portuguese or international schools, and anyone who wants real cultural clarity, not just the language. If you are moving to, or already living in, Portugal and want to feel genuinely at home, this is for you.

Cultural Onboarding is a personalised 1:1 programme that helps you understand how Portugal works socially, culturally and institutionally, and how to navigate it with confidence. Discover Portuguese DNA is a 60–90 minute workshop that explores the cultural foundations behind communication, relationships and education. Many families start with a free 15-minute call to choose the right format.

Both. Cultural Onboarding and the Discover Portuguese DNA workshop can be delivered online or in person, depending on where you are and what suits your family.

Sessions for international families are in English. Inês has lived in Italy and China, so she knows from the inside what adapting to a new culture feels like. If you also want to build practical Portuguese for daily life, school and work, we offer language support for adults and children.

Pricing is by consultation. Because the support is personalised to each family’s situation, we agree the right format and scope first, on a free 15-minute call, so you only invest in what actually helps you.

Integration is more than culture. Alongside cultural onboarding, we offer practical language support for adults and children, mediation with schools, services and institutions when clarity matters most, and ongoing support as your life in Portugal evolves.

Not at all. Many families start before arrival, so they land already understanding the essentials, while others begin once they are here and meet the first real-life questions. Both work well, and the free call helps you decide the best moment.

Inês Múrias. Bridge to Portugal is led by Inês, an education professional with over a decade of experience supporting international families and students in Portugal, across school coordination, language education and intercultural mediation. She has supported families of more than 20 nationalities.
